Spinacia oleracea

Bloomsdale is the gold standard heirloom spinach variety for farm production. Bred for bolt-resistance to heat and weather fluctuations. Bloomsdale is an early producer with delicious large hearty dark green savoyed leaves. They are disease resistant and high yielding. An excellent choice for spring and fall!

Growing Instruction:

Start indoors in early spring and transplant out early May. Alternatively direct sow in late April/early May. Sow again in late summer for fall crop.

Space plants 2-4 inches apart.

Space rows 8-12 inches apart.

Amend with compost and a fall annual legume cover crop to fix nitrogen where crop will grow. Make sure soil pH is between 5.8 and 7.0. If plant needs a growing boost, water with nitrogen tea or compost tea a few times. If trace minerals are inadequate sprinkle a small amount of woodash or azomite in each planting hole.

Harvest Instructions:

Harvest at any stage from baby leaf to large leaf.
